Meet the landlords and discover more about the history of The Killingworth Castle…

Jim & Claire Alexander took ownership of The Killingworth Castle in the Autumn of 2012; the latest in a long line of custodians that dates back to 1637.
After an extension program of renovations, the pub reopened in December 2012 and – under the steerage of resident manager Lidia Dhorne and head chef Phil Currie – has gone on to win two AA rosettes and a Michelin Bib Gourmand for its food.
The restaurant was also included in the Sunday Telegraph‘s 2013 list of top 500 eateries in the UK and was named ‘Restaurant of the Year’ 2013 and ‘Pub of the Year’ 2014 by the Oxford Times.
In May 2015, eight luxury en-suite bed & breakfast rooms were opened on the premises.
