What’s Going On…

This summer is shaping up to be a vintage year for events and happenings in the near vicinity of The Killingworth Castle.

Firstly, 2015 marks the 50th anniversary of the death of Sir Winston Churchill, the wartime prime minister whose leadership is credited with successfully steering the UK through the Second World War.

Churchill’s family home was the magnificent Blenheim Palace, which can be found within an eight minute drive of the pub. In fact, the former PM used the route from Blenheim to The Killingworth Castle to test out his new motor cars with close friend, William Morris, the Oxford based founder of Morris Motors.

Blenheim Palace is this summer hosting a whole series of events to mark the anniversary, including an exquisite dining experience and talk in the palace’s orangery on 5th June.

In addition, the Churchill Exhibition has been reinvigorated to mark the occasion and a memorial concert will be held in the stately home’s Long Library.
